Today, Akrit Jaswal is 15 years old with an IQ of 146, and he is considered as the “Smartest Person” in India. According to their parents Akrit Jaswal was very brilliant from his very early years. He learned the alphabets very fast and started writing within a short period, when other children of his age were still learning alphabets. He was reading Shakespear and Medical Books.
Akrit Jaswal developed a passion for Science and Anatomy at an early age. Doctors at local hospitals took notice and started allowing him to observe surgeries when he was only 6 years old. Inspired by what he saw, Akrit Jaswal read vastly on the medical/surgical topics. When an impoverished family heard about his amazing abilities, they asked if he would operate on their daughter for free. Her surgery was a success as described above.
After this amazing Surgery, successfully done by Akrit Jaswal, he was hailed as a Medical Genius. People living near his house and others, approached him for Medical consultations. At an early age of 11 years he was admitted in the Punjab University. He is the youngest student who attended an University. In the same year he was invited to the Imperial College, London, for exchanging his ideas on Medical and Surgical matters with eminent Scientists and Medical Scholars.
Akrit Jaswal having numerous novel ideas on Medical and Surgical matters, he is now focusing his attention on “curing cancer”,the deadly disease. He has developed a concept called “Oral Gene Therapy” and he is working on the mechanism with full dedication.
As a boy Akrit used to see cancer patients lying on the roadsides, without affording for getting treatment for cancer in good hospitals. He wants to help such helpless cancer patients using his medical knowledge.
At present, Akrit is studying for his Bachelor’s Degree in Natural Science. His ambition is to continue his higher studies at Harvard University.
People can’t stop talking about the phenomenal success of Suhas Gopinath, the world’s youngest CEO. This twenty year old runs Globals Inc which is based in Silicon Valley and has offices in 11 countries. Well, few know that this youngster wants to move base to India even though he has had some bad experiences here.
As a boy of 14 when he was refused permission to register his company by the government of India because he was too young. That was why he had to go to California…and soon came to known as the world’s youngest CEO.
It is not just the Indian government who was doubtful of his capabilities. Indian companies too had little faith in him. Says Gopinath:
At 14, when I opened my first portal and started offering IT services. I sent emails to various companies to offer my services. Indian companies didn’t show much interest, but a US based company sent visa and tickets for me. They offered me a job. It was a tempting offer for a middle class boy like me. But I never wanted to settle down in the US and become an NRI. I told them I wanted to be an independent entrepreneur. I opened my own company here with their back up and took help of a friend in the US. Now my company does the same work for them that they wanted me to do,” says Mr CEO who names Michael Dell and Bill Gates as his idols.
And this year Gopinath is doing something that has again caused a disapproving eyebrow to be raised in India - he is all set on opening a branch in Lahore, Pakistan, by September this year. He has already held discussions with the Pakistan Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz. Apparently Indian companies are not allowed to set up shop in Pakistan…but then Global Inc is not an Indian company…at least not yet.
Oddly enough, Gopinath holds no grudges against the Indian government or India for giving him a hard time. He recounts an humiliating experience he had once with humour…when a security guard in India refused to let him enter a conference where he was supposed to address the top CEO’s of Bangalore.
Actually we shouldn’t be too suprised at this patriot’s intentions to shift to India. Inspite of setting up a successful company at such a tender age, he remains an idealist at heart. This was the same kid who turned down an offer from a Fortune 500 company which had offered him a $ 2000 weekly pay cheque, a chauffer-driven car and an apartment!
I sincerely wish that all those who left India give her another chance. Come back with a forgiving attitude. India is going to open up a whole new world of opportunities in the coming years and there is a lot of work to be done. India needs people like you. Those who have seen how the world works.
India's youngest MTech from IIT Madras
When most students his age are in college, S Chandrasekar has won a gold medal in Computer Science at IIT Madras. At 17, he is the youngest Indian to have aced Masters in Technology with a CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) of 9.85 on a scale of 10.
At 9 he became the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Professional, MCP. At 10, he was the world's youngest Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, MCSE. The very next year he had the distinction of becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate, CCNA.
By 2002 Sekar had decided to go for an engineering course. However, he was only eleven then -- he was born on September 25, 1990 -- and children that age are hardly considered as engineering prospects. It was the vice-chancellor of Anna University, Dr Balaguruswamy, who decided to set up a six-member committee to appraise Sekar's talents. No marks for guessing what happened then for Sekar's genius won the day and he was soon admitted to an under graduate course in Computer Science.
In July 2006 he found himself doing his MTech in Computer Science at IIT Madras after he scored 99.32 percentile in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, a prerequisite for getting admission into IITs post graduate courses.
Were you always so brilliant since your childhood days?
Yes. I used to be very fast in school also. I used to top my school regularly.
Sports that you played while in school?
I was essentially very keen on playing soccer and cricket in my school days. However, after Class VI, at the age of eleven, I joined a bachelor in engineering course in Computer Science at AK College of Engineering.
How was that possible? From Class VI to an undergraduation course in Computer Science?
By the time I was eleven I had completed three international certification courses: MCP, MCSE and CCNA. Based on my performance in these three certificates the vice-chancellor of Anna University, Dr Balaguruswamy called me. During our conversation the idea to admit me into a BE course popped up.
It was then decided to constitute a committee of six people who would evaluate me to check if I was fit enough to be admitted into an engineering course at such an early age. After thorough evaluation of my talent and aptitude the committee gave a green signal and I was admitted to an engineering course in Computer Science.
When did you complete your graduation in engineering?
I was admitted at 11 and by the time i turned 15, in 2006, I was an engineer in Computer Science. I passed throughout with first class with distinction.
How did an MTech at IIT Madras beckon?
When I was into my third year of engineering I gave my GATE. I scored 99.32 percentile in this test and became an alumnus of IIT Madras in 2006 as an MTech student in Computer Science.
Did you work very hard to get the 99.32 percentile in GATE?
Not actually. Like most of my colleagues I studied hard only for three months. I did not attend any specialised classes and for this I must thank my college professors for giving proper guidance.
Any difficulties that you faced through your academic journey?
Not many actually. Not at least in my school and IIT days. Of course, when I joined my engineering course at eleven it was some kind of a shock to attend college with students who were in their late teens.
Luckily enough nobody tried to rag me when I joined college. Most seniors treated me like their younger brother. However, within the next six months everything was normal and I began to feel a part of the campus environment.
About yourself...
I was born in Tirunelvelli. I am the only child in my family. My father is a practicing auditor and my mother works for Canara Bank . Currently I am working as a Researcher with Tata Consultancy Services at Chennai.
Who is your role model, your inspiration in life?
I would not like to single out any individual in particular. There are several people who have influenced me and are still a source of inspiration for me.
Some of them are S Ramadorai of TCS, Ratan Tata and N Narayanmurthy of Infosys , and also Sachin Tendulkar from the world of sports.
How does it feel to be the youngest MTech that India has produced yet?
I am indeed very happy and it is a proud moment for me, my professors and my family. However, this is just a starting point. There are many more milestones to be passed yet.
Who would you credit with for your success?
There are four-five people actually who have influenced me to achieve this feat.
My school helped me a lot when I was doing my MCSE and CCNA. They helped me by providing enough support and leave so that I could concentrate on these courses. Generally, you don't expect a school to be happy about students bunking classes.
After that Covansys India supported me financially for almost six years till I finished my BE. I would also like to thank Dr Thangaraj, the principal of my college -- AK College of Engineering (now Kalasalingam University), affiliated to Anna University -- from where I did my engineering. He provided wonderful support and a good atmosphere when I was just eleven and entered a world where most other students were 7-8 years older than me. His support played a crucial role in my getting over my inhibitions about college life.
I would also like to thank TCS as they have been supporting me financially for the last two years and also my professors at IIT Madras.
Your future plans...
Currently, I am pursuing research in cryptography but I might enter a new area later. However, I would love to continue in the field of research in Computer Science.
India’s Youngest Maths Post-Graduate
She was barely nine when she cleared the Class 10 exams. And now Rajasthan girl Aarti Jajoo is on her way to the record books as the youngest post-graduate in India at the age of 16!
The celebrations have continued since July 1 when she received a confirmation letter from the Limca Book of Records (India`s equivalent of the Guinness Records).
Aarti Jajoo of Jaipur will be featured in the 2006 Limca Book of Records` communication and education chapter as the youngest post-graduate, that is the first girl in the country to achieve such a feat, the letter said.
Aarti cleared her post-graduation in mathematics at the age of 16, securing 77.59 percent marks in her examination.
I used to put in 10 hours of studies daily. During the time of exams, the study hours would increase to 13-15 hours, including the time I would spend in my regular classes, Aarti told about the secret of her success.
She was put under a rigorous training schedule by her jeweller-turned-exporter father K.D. Jajoo, who himself is an M.Sc in Mathematics.
She appeared for the Class 10 exam in 1998 when she was nine. She was only 11 when she passed Class 12. But her feats didn`t end there. She made it to the Limca Book as the youngest graduate in the country when she completed her BA (Hons) in economics at the age of 14 in 2003.
In her super-fast pursuit of education, has Aarti ever missed the fun and frolic of school?
You cannot have all good things at one time. Every achievement comes with a price tag, Aarti says.
When she was asked what inspired her to achieve this feat, Aarti said that it`s her brother, Govind Jajoo. My brother`s achievement proved to be the turning point in my educational journey, she added.
For K.D. Jajoo, Aarti was not the first in the family to make him proud. Govind too had apparently completed his MS in computer science from New York when he was just 20.
I thought, when my son can pass Class 10 at the age of 11, why can`t my daughter script the same story? K.D. Jajoo said.
Today education focuses more on rote learning. Methods of teaching too have not been upgraded in tune with the changing times. So it`s no use wasting 10 years at school.
Crediting him for her success, Aarti said: I feel lucky to have him as my father. He has not left even a single stone unturned to guide me in my studies. He would rather first learn the lessons himself and then teach me.
Excellence in academics has not stopped her from participating in debates and other co-curricular activities in college.
I have never been a bookworm. Be it studies or other activities I love to enjoy every moment of life, quips Aarti.
What about her future plans? Though I aspire to become an administrative officer, before that I intend to pursue my doctorate in mathematics from New York where my brother is currently serving.

The World's Youngest Surgeon
: 15 Years Old In southern India
A case of Guinness Book of the World Records or a penal case? Under the attentive surveillance of his parents, the 15-year-old son of two doctors from southern India performed a filmed Cesarean section. This was made on the run to gain the title of world's youngest surgeon.
Instead of that, the boy's father could lose all his licenses and could be charged for a criminal act, as announced by the officials. "Dr. K. Murugesan showed a recording of his son performing a Cesarean section to an Indian Medical Association chapter in the southern state of Tamil Nadu last month," said Dr. Venkatesh Prasad, secretary of the association.
Murugesan anaesthetized the patient. "We were shocked to see the recording. IMA told Murugesan that his act was an ethical and legal violation.Murugesan owns and runs a maternity hospital in the city of Manaparai," Prasad told The Associated Press.
"Murugesan, who could possibly be prevented from practicing and face criminal charges for allowing his son to perform the operation, expressed no regret and accused the Manaparai medical association of being "jealous" of his son's achievements. He said this was not the first surgery performed by his son and that he had been training him for the last three years," said Prasad.
Murugesan told the medical association that he goal was that of registering his son's name in the Guinness Book of World Records. "My team had reported the surgery to the state's top medical association in state capital, Chennai." said Prasad. "We'll get the report and then we'll see whether there are any violations ... prima facie it looks like there is a big violation. We will definitely take action against the concerned medical officers.", said Tamil Nadu's health secretary V.K. Subburaj.
"The baby that Dhileepan (the 15 years old son of Murugesan) delivered was born with a noticeable lump on the spinal cord," Prasad said.
But the doctors agreed that the birth had nothing to do with the surgery.
Surat is youngest city of India
